Cal-SAFE

The Cal-SAFE Program of Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) is designed to create the foundation for brighter futures for expecting and parenting students and their children. By offering a comprehensive academic and support program, students acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors to become successful parents and self-sufficient adults. Cal-SAFE faculty and staff are committed to assisting parents with the challenges they may encounter. In addition to promoting self-reliance and responsibility, we seek to nurture feelings of confidence and self-worth. Through this program students are able to earn a high school diploma and at the same time acquire vital parenting skills while their sons and daughters are cared for by a professional nursery staff.

WHAT IS IT?

The Cal-SAFE Program is for expectant and parenting high school age students who want to continue earning credits toward a high school diploma. Students are enrolled at Hare High School where they enter a rigorous academic program while at the same time their child is cared for by Cal-SAFE’s expert nursery teachers and staff.  Cal-SAFE’s developmental child care center helps strengthen the bond between student parent and child while teaching parenting skills.

WHY IS IT UNIQUE?

The Cal-SAFE Program is designed for high school students who want to earn a high school diploma while learning about pregnancy, childbirth, and child development.
