I am a native Pennsylvanian. I was born in a small Southwestern Pennsylvania town called McKeesport . My father, brother and a huge amount of my family still reside there. I had a very normal childhood with memories too huge to list. When I go back to visit, it is like I never left. We all meet at various places to catch up on our lives. The food and conversation never gets dull. I moved to California after my wedding in 1972. My own family has grown to three adult children, two married with their own growing families (three granddaughters ) , and one in the air force who is single . My husband of forty years is now watching over us in heaven and we all miss him dearly.
My education was started in a parochial elementary school that was very academically structured in the core curriculum. (I still don’t like math!) I moved on to the local public high school and focused on college prep so I could study my true subject love, which was the visual arts. I attended a small state teacher’s college in Pennsylvania and acquired my BA in Art Education. Art is my personal passion as well as my career, and I love showing my students why it can be so rewarding. I have done a few professional projects in my long art background. I have dabbled a bit in graphic design and some illustration work.
The most challenging work was a five foot sculpture that I was assigned to do for Disney by my employer at the time, who was a vendor for the most “Magical place on Earth”. Of course it was a sculpture of Mickey. Hopefully more projects of this caliber will come my way in the future. I always look at ways to create art, or help others to create a passion for their own art.
